Apparently, according to my "impeccable source," local media outlets have seen fit to publish reports about Cayblogger and other blogs concerning Cayman - absent of any input from the source.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not so egocentric that I can't take a few shots from afar without equal time to respond or - heaven forbid - the chance to corroborate or clarify facts; but absent of any emails to me requesting information I can only assume that the local media got half of the story. Lets hope they got half of that right.
Regardless, Cayblogger and yours truly - Rufus T McGilicutty - will endeavour to encourage the free-flow of dialogue and expression. Furthermore, I will do my best to parody the local scene and use satire to entertain; because at the end of the day that's what it's all about.
I have received comments from local physicians, employees of government departments and authorities, utilities and the odd foreign web-surfer. I look forward to many more comments from everyone - I just wish you knuckle-heads would clean them up so I could post them!
In 18 days, Cayblogger has received 6,752 posts. If this keeps up, I'll get more monthly hits than www.gov.ky and the department of tourism combined. And if you've seen those boring sites, you'll understand why.
And the funny thing is, government is probably spending tens of thousands of dollars a year to have people provide their information and updates. But then again, government departments have to find ways to waste money otherwise their budgets aren't approved for the next fiscal year. Hats off to the government's new whiz-bang accrual accounting method.
So, local media feel free to contact me for comment at [email protected] or simply post a comment on one of my fake stories.
Government - hurry up and pass the freedom of expression legislation.
Sandra Catron - keep reading my posts on your show; and wake Barrie Quappe up will ya?
And finally, while I'm gone, someone PLEASE drop off a Jack Rackam's burger to Dr. Luarca - the man is skin and bone.
