Shocking revelations from Cayman’s media sub-culture just days after Guy Harrison reported that religious freak Pat Robertson can (allegedly) leg press 2,000 pounds.
Word has been received by the Cayblogger that the Cayman Compass’s own Carol Winker holds the world’s record for clean-and-jerk, with an impressive (yet unofficial) lift of 2,782 pounds.
Speaking under condition of anonymity, Tammie Chisholm told Cayblogger that Carol has always taken good care of herself and she can usually be found at World Gym every night, “throwing the iron around like a medieval ferrier.”
While some people find it hard to believe that the usually reserved Winker would be capable of such a feat, most people at the Compass believe it without exception.
"I remember how embarrassed Guy (Harrison) and Alan (Markoff) were when she beat them at tandem Indian leg wrestling," said one unnamed Compass staffer. "Those two guys are kinda wimpy anyway, but she flipped them both like cheese omlettes. She’s amazing.”
Carol is a long-time Cayman staff member who's primary news reporting duty, or "beat", is the Cayman courthouse. She's also in charge of changing out the office's bottled water and loading the printing press.
While Carol’s feats of strength cannot be verified, Cayblogger did receive word that Philip Seymour Hoffman has recently been cast in the title role of “Winker” due out in late 2007.
Hollywood said pre-production has been delayed on “Winker” until they can find a suitable replica of Carol’s bike.
